Convenience stores are loved by consumers for providing convenient shopping experience with their flexible and efficient advantages. However, in the face of fierce competition from large supermarkets and online shopping, convenience stores need to find ways to stay ahead. Smart shelf labels are definitely the key to providing a better shopping experience and improving competitiveness.
Recently, one of the stores of China's well-known convenience store chain adopted our smart shelf solution and completed the deployment of our digital price tags.
Starting point
Convenience stores usually provide a rich variety of products. However, limited store space requires convenience stores to reduce the number of employees as much as possible. How can the operating efficiency of stores be improved?
Project background
The convenience store contains more than 20 subdivided retail shelf scenes and more than 1,500 kinds of goods. Paper price tags are used to display product information. The clerk needs to review and replace the product information on the price tags every day, which is inefficient. When the store is busy or understaffed, it is easy to fail to update the price tag information in time or there are problems such as information errors. In addition, the paper price tags are simple in content, lack of appeal, and the placement angle is not flexible enough, resulting in visual clutter on the shelves.
Deployment of different types of commodity shelves
The convenience store have a variety of product categories and placement methods, and a single label cannot meet the application of all scenarios. After a field investigation, it was decided to use 2.1-inch electronic price tags STAG21 for general commodity shelves.
For shelves in the fresh food and dairy product areas, the temperature of open refrigerators is only about 2-8℃ all year round, and the cold air will condense into small water droplets. Therefore, we use IP67-level dust and water-proof price tags to ensure their operational stability.
In closed freezers with lower temperatures, we use low-temperature electronic price tags that also have an IP67 protection level, which can effectively cope with cold environments as low as -25℃.
Product information is no longer monotonous
Now, store clerks can scan the barcode on the price tag through a PDA or mobile phone to review the product information, and changes to product information will be refreshed in real time through the label. In terms of display content, according to the needs of convenience stores, we designed display templates suitable for different application scenarios such as original price, promotional price, and membership price, and set up price change strategies. When the price changes to the promotional price, the label will automatically refresh to the promotional template.
After the electronic label system was launched, the store's operating efficiency was significantly improved. Customers said that smart labels made their shopping easier, especially during promotions, and the clear information display attracted more consumers. Store employees also reported that the automatic price change and inventory information functions of the digital store system reduced redundant work and were able to devote more energy to customer service.
We believe in the importance and potential of electronic labels in the retail industry. We look forward to working with more companies to jointly promote the digital transformation of the retail industry and create a more efficient and intelligent shopping environment.
